Master
Sergeant Edward M. Willis distinguished himself by
extraordinary achievement while participating in aerial
flight as an HH-53C Pararescue Technician in Southeast Asia
on 18 February 1970. On that date, Sergeant Willis and his
fellow crewmembers flew their rescue helicopter deep into
hostile territory to rescue a downed American Airman. Once
driven off by ground fire, they returned to successfully
rescue the airman after another helicopter had been
critically damaged in a previous attempt. The professional
competence, aerial skill and devotion to duty displayed by
Sergeant Willis reflect great credit upon himself and the
United States Air Force.
