Site Mission: Provide Pararescue and Air Rescue History

Distinguished Flying Cross Recipient

Attention to orders. Citation to accompany the award of the Distinguished Flying Cross, third oak leaf cluster,  to Technical Sergeant Aaron D. Farrior

Technical Sergeant Aaron D. Farrior distinguished himself by extraordinary achievement while participating in aerial flight as an HH-3E Pararescue Specialist in Southeast Asia, on 18 November 1968.  On that date, Sergeant Farrior successfully recovered two Air Force pilots from and extremely hostile area.  Despite automatic weapons fire directed at his helicopter, Sergeant Farrior exposed himself in the open doorway while skillfully directing a precarious hover down into the trees to place the fully extended hoist cable within one survivor’s reach.  The professional competence, aerial skill, and devotion to duty displayed by Sergeant Farrior reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Air Force.
