Staff
Sergeant Richard M. Eselgroth, Jr., distinguished himself by
extraordinary achievement while participating in aerial
flight as a Pararescue Recovery Specialist, at the Toutle
River, Washington, from 31 October 1977 to 1 November 1977.
During this period his expertise and decisive actions were
responsible for the saving of two young lives and preventing
the development of a hazard which would endanger both the
rescue helicopter and its crew. The professional competence,
aerial skill, and devotion to duty displayed by Sergeant
Eselgroth reflect
great credit upon himself and the United States Air Force.
