Airman
First Class David M. Davison distinguished himself by heroism while
participating in aerial flight as an HH-53C Pararescue/Recovery
Specialist in Southeast Asia on 12 November 1969. On that
date, Airman Davison was a crew member aboard an air rescue
helicopter during the successful recovery of an injured
airman who had been shot down in the midst of a heavily
defended, hostile stronghold. During the two attempts
required to reach the downed pilot, Airman Davison exposed
himself to hostile ground forces while providing suppressive
fire to protect the hovering helicopter. Despite the
intensity of the opposing fire, he continued to fire at the
advancing troops and his undaunted courage aided greatly in
the success of the mission. The
outstanding heroism and selfless devotion to duty displayed
by Airman Davison reflect great credit upon himself and the
United States Air Force.
