Staff Sergeant Robert N. Baldwin distinguished himself by heroism in connection with military operations against an opposing armed force as an HH-3E flight engineer on a HH-3E rescue helicopter northwest of the A Shau Valley on 9 June 1968. On that date, Sergeant Baldwin displayed outstanding aerial competence and courageous professionalism in the aggressive pursuance and acquisition of the assigned targets. The tenacity of this airman to attain the objective against formidable defenses is in accord with the highest military objectives. The outstanding heroism and selfless devotion to duty displayed by Sergeant Baldwin reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Air Force.
