Airman's or Soldier's Medal Recipients
Attention to orders. Citation to accompany the award of the Airman's Medal to Technical Sergeant John L. Pighini
Technical Sergeant John L. Pighini distinguished himself by heroism involving voluntary risk of life at Zaragoza, Spain on 12 July 1979. On that date, Sergeant Pighini was involved in a lifesaving rescue mission at the Hotel Corona de Argon. With complete disregard for his own safety and even though injured, Sergeant Pighini made numerous attempts to rescue people from the burning building. By his courageous actions and humanitarian regard for his fellowman, Sergeant Pighini has reflected great credit upon himself and the United States Air Force.
