Staff
Sergeant Henry Erben, United States Air Force, distinguished
himself by an act of heroism at Atlantic City, New Jersey,
on 14 September 1944. During the height of a hurricane,
Sergeant Erben, with total disregard for his own safety,
made his way through a storm-swept street and evacuated an
elderly invalid whose life was endangered by the turbulent
water and floating debris. The prompt and courageous action
exhibited by Sergeant Erben in voluntarily exposing himself
to grave danger to aid another reflects great credit upon
himself and the United States Air Force. |
